An analysis of an analysis

Sue Mi Terry [28:26]: “I do think that if President Trump wanted to have a meeting w/ it is possible, but not for yet another meeting that occurred in Hanoi. This is what Kim Jong Un does not want.”
2/Right. DPRK was willing to get UNSC sanctions lifted in exchange for denuke measures, but the US demanding too much became a bridge too far. DPRK has since entirely removed sanctions lifting from their agenda and Hanoi is now seen as water over the dam.
3/Water Over The Dam: Kim Jong Un's Sister Kim Yo Jong Defines North Korea's Diplomatic Position

Kim Yo Jong has in fact explained in her July 10, 2020 press statement how the Hanoi summit became a turning point whereafter DPRK removed sanctions lifting
4/from their agenda, and that during the DMZ summit Kim Jong Un explained to Trump DPRK’s new position. Yet either Sue Mi Terry didn’t read Kim Yo Jong’s statement in full, it went in one ear and out the other, she just didn’t absorb/ comprehend/understand it and its nuances or
5/doesn’t take what Kim Yo Jong says seriously (an egregious mistake if so).

Compare Sue Mi Terry’s analysis:

“What he is looking for as we talked about in the previous programs is sanctions relief. So if President Trump were willing to offer significant sanctions relief for
6/“some sort of a small deal, I do think North Korea will still be open for that.”

w/ Kim Yo Jong’s statement:

"When the DPRK-U.S. summit talks was held in Panmunjom on June 30, 2019, Comrade Chairman defined his clear position to the U.S. President, (who preached north Korea's
7/“Korea's bright economic prospects and economic aid and asked for further denuclearisation measures as a prerequisite), that we shall never barter our system, the safety and future of our people for the likes of lifting of sanctions of no guarantee in the hope for the
8/“glamourous transformation and the realisation of our dreams of rapid economic prosperity...

From that time on, we completely ruled out the issue of lifting sanctions from the agenda of negotiations with the U.S....
9/“We are fully capable of living under any sanctions, so there is no reason for us to be driven by the U.S.

I hope that the U.S., at this moment in time, does not harbour such a pipedream as trying to restrike a bargain which was put on the negotiations
10/“table at the Hanoi summit talks, which entails the partial lifting of sanctions versus the permanent dismantlement of large-scale nuclear facilities like the ones in Nyongbyon, the central nerve of our nuclear development." - Kim Yo Jong
11/Sue Mi Terry: “So if President Trump were willing to offer significant sanctions relief for some sort of a small deal, I do think North Korea will still be open for that.”

Kim Yo Jong: “From that time on, we completely ruled out the issue of lifting sanctions from the agenda

I hope that the U.S., at this moment in time, does not harbour such a pipedream as trying to restrike a bargain which was put on the negotiations table at the Hanoi summit talks...which entails the partial lifting of sanctions versus
13/“[denuclearization steps]....

“I have to point out clearly that it does not mean the lifting of sanctions when we refer to major changes from the other side.”

One cannot deviate from Kim Yo Jong’s statement. DPRK has 0 interest in any deal w/ sanctions lifting on the table.
*wanted to have a meeting w/ Kim it is possible*
