"Your heart, your treasure."
A few years back at a youth conference, my pastor and mentor, @T_Vutabwashe once said a very profound statement. He said, " Being patriotic is not being political"
I attest to that.
These are words by Nehemiah, when he had asked his brothers about the situation of his home country. Watch.
They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace....
4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. [Neh 1:3-4]
What does the situation of your country make you feel right now? As an ordinary, non-office bearing individual, do you feel any burden? Imagine upon hearing the sad state of his country,Nehemiah broke down. A grown man wept and mourned and fasted for days and days.
Okay fine you may feel the appalling conditions of your nation but what is your action towards that? We are not talking humongous actions you could take,No! Indeed it might not be in your capacity to ochestrate revolutions and reforms but truly it is in your ability to pray.
A sad truth is continous bickering and murmuring doesn't change anything. If your heart is for your country, you will treasure it. You will do anything in your capacity to see change.
Now hear this;
When you get involved, you inspire others to get involved and such involvement will discard all the negative energy that might hover around you.
When you love something or someone, you do not speak foul of them and utter all kinds of nonsense. You continously pour out positive words. The age old narrative of the power in words is not a myth. We know this.
