@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow Some Trump supporters refuse to wear masks or follow social distancing rules because they think it’s all a left wing agenda, against which they must rebel. Without strict enforcement, polling places will be super spreaders. Will all poll workers “believe in” enforcing the rules?
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow Or will some poll workers be agendized COVID denialist types? Will they be careless, or even deliberately undermine the rules we will entrust them to enforce? Will some places have flagrantly lax enforcement in attempts to deter the more cautious (Democratic-leaning) voters?
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow If in-person voting takes place (an option all voters should have—but not as the only option), it must be conducted according to COVID hygiene guidelines, STRICTLY ENFORCED. Election officials should take election-day reports of malfeasance seriously and act on them promptly.
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow At some polling places and in some precincts, non-enforcement of rules may be rampant and even flagrant. Politically-motivated scofflaws may loiter and behave unsafely in attempts to intimidate cautious voters away. Attempts to report violations may be discouraged or ridiculed.
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow Other problems with onsite voting may include shortages of polling places and workers.
A new upsurge in COVID cases may motivate additional venues and workers to cancel.
Like all issues, this may affect certain precincts more than others; and this may or may not be by design.
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow And where multiple-day or early voting is available (as it should be), will poll workers be adequately protected from malicious attempts to infect them (with ANYTHING contagious) so as to reduce the number of poll workers and possibly to force the closure of some polling sites?
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow Where onsite voting exists, election boards and registrars of voters should be vigilant on all the above issues of safety, voter suppression or intimidation, and more. Conscientious people should consider volunteering as poll workers to watch for and report promptly any problems.
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow BUT, because onsite voting presents so many new concerns as well as the other longstanding ones, voting by mail (and at drop boxes) should be among the options available to every registered voter.
States and counties should put reliable, mischief-proof systems in place NOW.
@perpaul17 @RicksRant @WayneDupreeShow And all eligible voters should make sure they’re registered to vote.
Then request a mail or absentee ballot (as available) as soon as possible. Then VOTE.

And help OTHERS register and vote.

Each step WELL BEFORE DEADLINES.
