Portland protest day 65
I’m at laurelherst park where the remnants of a dispersed group are gathering to figure out where to go next
I’m at the justice center now, around 500 people are at the fence of the federal courthouse. It’s peaceful
Some moms are leaving
The crowd is lisenting to speeches
The crowd is about to march
The group is on the move
The speaker started this march by talking about how they march in Seattle, not sure this crowd appreciated that
Protestors are marching around the Wyatt building(federal) so are chanting, some are giving the middle finger, but there is no tension
The speaker is talking about how there are more people of color in these marches than there were in Seattle, but there’s still a lot of white people in the crowd. Someone from the crowd yells “welcome to Portland”
Unclear where the crowd is headed, but this walk west brings back memories of all those nights of being dispersed and pushed this direction. Except there’s no police behind pushing
The march has paused while the speaker talks for a moment about Breonna Taylor
Someone in the crowd said “they’re from out of town, do they know where they’re going?”
A side conference so the speaker can figure out where their going, one protestor tells the speaker “we’re on 10th” and it seems the march to the Mayors condo continues
