As I’ve told you before, #Sony owns - at least partially - rights to the #SpiderMan CHARACTER.

Everything that’s done with him across all platforms - comics, movies / tv, video games - must get their approval.

Of course they’ll use him as an exclusive to their gaming system!
When Marvel made that deal they were in serious financial trouble - that’s why it’s such a bad deal. And SpiderMan will always be in a difficult position because of it, because Sony has the character itself. And they will likely NEVER give it up.
I heard this DIRECTLY from Marvel when I worked there. Even comic book storylines for SpiderMan must get Sony approval.

They don’t like to talk about it publicly for obvious reasons.
Finally some of you pointing out Sony sold BACK merchandise rights in 2011 which is correct.

But if it was ONLY film & tv in the first place, how could Sony sell back merch rights which have nothing to do with film & tv?
