Here's what I like most: that so many folks are sure Trump is a criminal, has been a criminal many years, is a pathological liar and has been one for decades, but somehow allow for the possibility there really was nothing behind the 270+ secret Trump-Russia contacts he lied about
We're living in a dramatic irony-filled caesura in history in which, to be "fair," we pretend that maybe Trump *didn't* collude with Russia and China and MBS and MBZ and Netanyahu, but then if he loses in November the truth will out and everyone will say, "oh I said so all along"
If you're on social media or in your home or at an office water cooler or in an empty lot or at a campsite or in your car and for even a moment indulge the possibility *any* of the congressional, criminal, and counterintelligence claims about Trump are "hoaxes," see your PCP ASAP
America has never before suffered in public life—let alone public service—a man so conspicuously vile in word, deed, and ethos, whose history of perfidy and venality and criminality is so spectacular that the only doubt we should feel about it is how one man managed to do it all
Stone's sentence was commuted for a reason, and Trump told Flynn to "stay strong" for a reason, and Trump had a secret joint defense deal with Manafort for a reason, and those 272 Trump-Russia contacts were lied about for a reason, and and—a thousand more ands—and don't forget it
There isn't a culture war in America, there's an *information* war, and only the far right—now the entirety of the right—knows we are in it, and their battle plan has only one component: make you doubt everything experience, good sense and your parents taught you about bad people
If I could say one thing to those of sense and conscience, it'd be trust your instincts: if you encounter someone online or in politics who commits evil, laughs at evil acts, condones bad men, seeks to obfuscate basic ethics to score points—understand it *is* what you think it is
What those waging war on information—reality—most want to do is make you doubt your compass, make you question if maybe you got it all wrong, if maybe your view of the law, ethics, morality, and common sense is a minority view, but that too is misdirection: we remain the majority
