Week 318. Today I joined @FFF_Milano in their school strike for the climate, against genocide and ecocide. 🧵1/4

The fight for climate justice is a fight against the fossil fuel industries and destruction of the environment just as much as it is a fight against the weapon industries, militarisation and the overextraction of natural resources in communities in the most affected areas. 2/4

The climate justice movement must be a decolonial, anti capitalist, antifascist movement that fights against genocide as well as ecocide, that demands liberation and justice for all, and a system that puts people and planet over profit. 3/4

Week 308. This week, activists from all across the world gather in Melle, a village in France, to mobilise for water justice and against the construction of huge water reservoirs for irrigation, and other water-grabbing projects.

… partly as a result of the climate crisis and more intense and frequent droughts. But this is no way a solution. It happens at the expense of small-scale farmers as it decreases their access to water resources that are already over exploited, as well as destroys ecosystems.

This only digs us deeper into an already deeply flawed policy-system that benefits big agro-industrial interests representing a small minority of farmers, while ruining the environment and destabilising the climate.

Week 302. This week we are standing outside Europahuset - the European Commission’s representation in Sweden - to highlight the EU election.
Making your voice heard cannot only be during elections, in a democracy this must apply for every hour of every day.🧵

The EU has an enormous responsibility, both in the climate crisis and other humanitarian crises around the world.
If we don’t hold them accountable, no one will. That is our duty as citizens and as humans.

We who have the privilege of being able to vote have a responsibility to do so. When you vote, vote with empathy and solidarity - and think of others who are not as fortunate. But remember that voting alone will not be enough…

Students all over Sweden are today joining the global student uprisings and are now occupying universities in Sweden, against the genocide in Palestine, for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation. 🧵1/5

We are currently at Stockholm University, who have failed to cut ties with israeli academia and not even published a statement in solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian people. 2/5

The Israeli military are actively targeting and bombing Palestinian universities and institutions of higher education, as well as the basic societal infrastructure. There is no safe place in Gaza. 3/5

Week 292. Today we are several people and groups protesting in Sundsvall, Sweden, outside SCA’s AGM. Forestry is Sweden's single largest emitter of greenhouse gases, and the main driving factor behind loss of habitat and species. 1/12

SCA is Europe’s largest private forest owner, and we are demanding an end to their systematic clearcutting of irreplaceable natural forests with high importance for climate and biodiversity. After the demonstration, some of us went inside the AGM to demand accountability. 2/12

SCAs forestry is built on systematically expanding into the last remaining natural forests, forests whose conditions are vital for many species and which have stored carbon for up to thousands of years and thus both slow down and act as protection against the climate crisis. 3/12

Right now young people are blocking the Swedish parliament to draw attention to that the climate crisis and underlying social injustices are killing people, and the situation is only getting worse.
We've had enough of those in power not listening to the science and our voices 1/6

Instead of ensuring an immediate and just transition, they choose to continue exacerbating the climate crisis and silencing activists, scientists and the most affected. A group of scientists is also on site to show their support and show that our demands are in line with science 2/6

This action is a resistance to the continuation of this deadly, unjust system. The richest consume enormous amounts of resources, at the expense of large parts of the world's population not even having their basic needs met 3/6
