Yes. Let’s throw more money to end the Austin “address challenged” disaster.

Amid Economic Crisis, Austin Taxpayers Forced to Buy $8.75M Homeless Hotel texasscorecard.com/local/amid-eco…
AUSTIN — During an economic crisis where government shutdowns could force 261,000 Austinites out of work, the local government is now spending more of citizens’ money on expensive hotels for the homeless.
In May, #atxcouncil approved spending $8.75 MILLION on a downtown-area hotel to house roughly 75 homeless people. The council is forcing taxpayers to spend over $116,000 per room—a price that doesn’t even include the ongoing maintenance and operation costs.
Also, the property—a Country Inn & Suites—was valued by the county at only $4.8 million.
The council approved the purchase on their consent agenda, meaning they packaged it with numerous other uncontested items and voted WITHOUT PUBLIC DISCUSSION.
The hotel is only the latest purchase in the city council’s ongoing trail of spending seemingly overpriced sums on homeless housing; last fall, the council bought another hotel for $8 million, though it could only house 81 citizens.
Last year’s hotel is also a “low-to-no barrier” shelter, which, according to city officials, means individuals can enter w/out any background check, stay as long as they want and don’t need to be sober while living there. It remains to be seen if the latest hotel will be the same
Additionally, the council is framing their latest purchase in context to the coronavirus, hoping they’ll be able to pay for their pre-pandemic homeless hotels plan with the $170 million of federal taxpayer cash that was funneled to the city by the CARES Act.
If that doesn’t work, however, local citizens will be paying the entire cost.

Despite #atxcouncil‘s exorbitant spending (they’ve also budgeted a record $62 MILLION toward homelessness this fiscal year) the number of homeless is up 11% from last year (to an 11-year high).
The population of unsheltered homeless increased 45% this year.

To pay for its constantly swelling spending, the city council is considering raising taxes again this year by the maximum allowed under state law—
— even though they’re already taking 100% more cash from the average homeowner compared to 12 years ago (in 2008 the median property tax bill was $705; now, it’s over $1,400).
The council’s latest pricey hotel purchase and potential tax hike on citizens comes amid fallout from government coronavirus shutdowns.
A survey of Austin businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic finds that 90% of the city’s live music venues are likely to permanently close by Halloween austinmonitor.com/stories/2020/0…

" . . . it’s far too early for the mayor to crow “We have turned the corner of crime in our city.” nypost.com/2024/01/06/opi…
Overall crime in New York City dropped in 2023 over 2022; we’re still the “safest big city in America,” as Mayor Adams boasted recently — but that’s cold comfort when we’re still far behind 2019, the last year before the destructive effects of our criminal-justice “reforms” made themselves visible.
Consider car thefts: 5,438 in 2019; 15,802 in 2023.

The Supreme Court Is The Last Functioning Institution In America

That's Why It's Doomed thefederalist.com/2024/03/04/the…
In a 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court ruled states cannot use section 3 of the 14th Amendment to kick Donald Trump off state ballots over his alleged “insurrectionist” actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
Learning that state officials aren’t empowered to simply toss leading presidential candidates off ballots came as a great surprise to many incredulous left-wingers.

As he increasingly misinforms and misdirects the public, Tapper’s obsessive slander of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. becomes more deranged; revealing more about himself than the presidential candidate. reportfromplanetearth.substack.com/p/the-wayward-…
In a desperate attempt to discredit Kennedy, he suggests that readers examine the story of the Samoan measles outbreak of 2019.
An investigation into this healthcare calamity reveals the depth of Tapper’s dishonest journalism. His methods of manipulating information are analyzed herein.

Israel was attacked. It was attacked by Hamas terrorists who streamed over the border from Gaza. They came on foot and on motorbikes. They came by truck, by car and by paraglider. They came to Israel to murder and maim and mutilate anyone they could find. thefp.com/p/today-is-isr…
And that is what they did. is impossible to know the numbers of the dead or the missing or the injured.

The official numbers as of this writing: 300 Israelis dead; 1,590 wounded. And dozens—maybe many more—taken hostage into Gaza. They include women, elders, and children. Image
They shot people in cars and at bus stops, they rounded up women and children into rooms like Einsatzgruppen—yes, the comparison is appropriate—and machine-gunned them.
