Not every parent is cut out for homeschooling, so maybe it is time we looked back at what worked for our ancestors? In Japan from the 17th c. up until 1872 terakoya filled the educational needs between trade schools and elite education, run by teacher-owners in private homes.
These one room classrooms taught calligraphy, reading, math, basic business skills etc. usually the teachers too were commoners, but sometimes clergy or aristocracy would open and run their own neighborhood or temple schools.
Famous teachers would make their own textbooks, but most teachers bought their textbooks from the same book stores as elite schools: the children of commoners had basically the same education as their social peers but at a fraction of the cost. Reminds me of Khan Academy today?
Some teachers specialized in little boys, others in little girls. Teachers with special skills like doctors or priests could also teach what they knew of their trades. Many teachers would organize monthly or bi-annual "open days" where parents could come see their kid's progress.
So if you are an enterprising person in need of an income, why not set up a home based school? Keep classes small, offer extra tutoring for students who need it, teach in large open well ventilated rooms or even outdoors when the weather permits to limit any virus spreads.
