2. First, we think all clinical trial data should be made public regardless of whether the drug succeeds or fails. This is a demand being made in most countries and several of them are making this information public.
3. Second, we ask for all file notings and decisions related to New Drug Approvals to be made public prior to the decision to approve the drug. This is important so as to give some time for public scrutiny and opposition.
4. Third, we want all data related to state manufacturing licenses to be made public, along with the accompanying safety data that is required to be submitted to the state licensing authorities.
5. Fourth, we want all inspections reports of the mfg plants + test reports of all drugs to be made public. In other countries inspections reports are made public. As for test reports, some information is available on the xlnindia.gov.in website but more needs to be done.
6. Fifth, we want all enforcement data i.e. criminal complaints filed against pharmaceutical companies + judgments made available in a single database so that people can check the track record of companies.
7. Sixth, we ask for the Indian Pharmacopeia to be made publicly available - it is a binding law but costs about Rs. 52,500 to access it.
This is a first step in a long process which we hope the @MoHFW_INDIA takes in bringing transparency and accountability in functioning of the @CDSCO_INDIA_INF and make it responsive to the people of India.
