I don't mean this in a cruel way, because I sympathize with what people are longing for, but it's time to accept that there is no "back to normal." If we want to reduce the damage done, we can't do it by trying recreate a world that can't exist anymore.
Truly, I understand folks' pain. I am in literal, almost intolerable pain bc I can no longer safely access treatment. But dead is forever, so I don't think the answer for me is to go back to physical therapy & maybe die or bring COVID-19 home to my partner. We need new solutions.
And when no good answers exist, which will sometimes be the case, we have to figure out how to do our best to comfort and support people. We can't do that if we won't admit where we're at.
Also I get what people are saying about how "normal" was oppressive & bad, but I also recognize that when ppl say they want "normal" back, a lot of them are saying they want friends, family, life-giving services & some small semblance of safety back. I feel for & with those ppl.
