He will go after a heckler in Times Square, knowing very well that this guy is a nobody, but squirm in his seat in front of Pranab Mukherjee or Raj Thackeray. A life or a human being isn’t valuable to him unless it’s “big” as per his definition.

Since Sardesai and his circle of privilege have trouble understanding this, mainly because they are who they are because of their network, the reason why the death of SSR is a big deal is because people see in him their own struggles for acceptance
Most of us have to establish ourselves without a big surname or without daddy being the head of Indian broadcasting, and while it is true most of us won’t be a “big enough star” to meet the standards of those who were given everything on a platter, we do understand struggle.
The death of SSR is significant because people see it as one between an individual and a state trying to cover things up. When it comes to deaths of judges and cases against specific people, you Sardesai express repeated skepticism, because it suits your agenda.
