No import means no foreign design and only indigenous designed, developed & manufactured products or it also includes foreign products manf in India? If former, do we have indigenous capabilities for all weapons in the list, In the latter, it’s buy & make as per existing DPP.
We have to fix the DPSUs & OFBs which stand to gain - their quality, delivery time, maintenance, or our operational readiness will be impacted. Some of the products which pvt sector already has like light & towed Howitzers, AFVs is welcome. Order in numbers. Encourage pvt sector
If this list includes foreign weapons to be manufactured in India as it seems, there can be a situation were you foreign company willing to manf in India, take away order from Indian design & developed weapon. Eg Light & Towed Howitzers.
Corvettes are in the no import list, not frigates. Frigates should also be in the list. We imported Russian ones despite our own & more advanced Shivalik & its even more advanced follow up, Nilgiri class.
This tweet by RM indicates buy only Indian tech where pvt sector can use own or DRDO tech. So is “Buy Global & Make” barred for this list? That will put a ? on projects like P75i, C-295. Maybe need a list that explicitly says Indian Design,Developed & manf https://t.co/JzVOHgYaH1

Canadian PM Trudeau accuses Indian gvt of killing a Khalistani in Canada and expelled an Indian diplomat. Relations going to be in deep freeze for the foreseeable future.
If there was credible evidence, Trudeau would’ve stayed away from G20 summit. I mean that’s a way to show all is not well, like Xi did. But he attended. Now in matter of days he has credible evidence. Doesn’t add up. Putting India-Canada ties at risk for his political problems?
Modi will be pleased with the accusation though. Taking out terrorist on foreign soil will be well received in India, which has suffered terribly to terrorism

A dozen poor countries are facing economic instability and even collapse under the weight of hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign loans, much of them from the world’s biggest and most unforgiving government lender, China. fortune.com/2023/05/18/chi…
An AP analysis of a dozen countries most indebted to China — including Pakistan, Kenya, Zambia, Laos and Mongolia — found paying back that debt is consuming an ever-greater amount of the tax revenue needed to keep schools open, provide electricity and pay for food and fuel.
China’s reluctance to forgive debt & its extreme secrecy about how much money it has loaned & on terms has kept other major lenders from stepping in to help..borrowers required to put cash in hidden escrow accounts that push China to the front of the line of creditors to be paid.

International relations are and must be guided by cold pursuit of national interests, not emotions.
Many mango Indians get influenced by emotions when it comes to Russia, US, Pakistan, rather than being guided by national interests. Relations are a means to pursue national interests, relations are not the end in itself.
India decided to go with the USSR in the wisdom of that time to pursue national interests. Post Cold War, for those stuck to the past & guided by emotions, relations with Russia became the end in itself not the means.

If there is downgrading of economic ties between Taiwan & China as a punishment, which is likely, India must look to gain from it as Taiwanese companies look for alternatives. It’s not just semiconductors & electronics, but a whole lot of manufactured goods. Make for India & World
OTOH, It will make strategic sense for Taiwan to try and deepen economic relations with India, which benefits India in terms of technology and manufacturing.
Taiwanese businessman Keng Lee : We are businesses that are not conglomerates but have shaped the fortune of China and even the US. We can help turn India into an economic powerhouse newindianexpress.com/states/tamil-n…

India is the only country which not only has commie Left, but also some commie Right! The Left rightly gets called out for its love for China. But they are irrelevant now. The love for Chicoms among a section of Right, potentially influencing policy, is a national security threat
Subversion to change a rival’s policy is a cheap alternative to coercion, deterrence or diplomacy. Why raise an army & invade an adversary when you can spread propaganda, pay off politicians, or dispatch internet trolls to achieve subtler but tangible gains?

China has been playing down the crisis that it precipitated in 2020 leading to the loss of 20 Indian soldiers. It’s blames the US for the crisis! Some in India agree with that. Chinese embassy very active, has penetration our in media,as in other countries.Targets for subversion

Jaishankar on talks with Wang Yi
1- Talks on Ladakh: Still friction on going. Cannot say our relations are returning to normal. It’s not normal as long as there are forces on the border & violation of our agreements. (Did not sound hopeful either)
2- On Ukraine: Both sides have their PoV. BUT there was common agreement on need for diplomacy - impression of largely divergent views on Ukraine.
3- NO talks on Quad or Indo-Pacific
4- SJ raised the statement by Wang at OIC on Kashmir as objectionable. Issue discussed at length
5- Regarding BRICS & meeting in Beijing: It was discussed. SJ says it’s subject to situation on border. Clearly non-committal on Modi visit for BRICS.Tone wasn’t optimistic either.
6- China hasnt invited India for talks on Afg.
7- China didn’t want the visit to be announced
