This is racism, plain and simple. I don’t think she realizes it, but it is. Feeling like your identity insulates you from ever being in the wrong leads to enormous moral blind spots.
What does it mean when she says “among their own”? And just put that logic in the voice of a white person complaining about white men who date Asian “types” for instance.
I’m coming to realize that if you invoke the language of social justice—or just lacquer your points with certain acccepted tropes—you can say *anything* on here with impunity.
Anyway, let that man Dev Patel live. Nobody should be commenting on who other people choose to like or love.
