These headlines might seem unrelated. But they both highlight the incompetence wrecking us: GOP is incapable of understanding basic principles of statistical risk.

In his goofy tweet @marcorubio says students at "low risk" of serious harm: Thats the phrase that the GOP has.../1
...used again & again to wave away the dangers of their actions. Use an example that they'll understand: The 2016 election. There was something like a 90% chance HRC would win. GOPrs took that as meaning she had 90% support, and now laugh about polls. But what that means is.../2
...in 9 out of 10 statistical possibilities of the race outcomes, HRC would win. But in 1 out of 10 - the one that we came up with (and look how close the required must-win states were, you will see the 1 out of 10 chance) Trump would win. That scenario is what happened..../3
...with COVID, GOPrs keep citing chances solely on individual outcome: (Let's make it 1% chance of serious complications for infection) For each individual, they say, "Oh, you have just 1% chance Billy, Susie, Tommy.) Irrelevant. What you HAVE is that for every 100 kids sick../4
... for every 100 kids sick, one will have serious complications. So, while Billy & Susie's parents can be calmed by knowing *their* kid has a 1% chance, officials like Rubio - are supposed to be focused on fact that, for first 100, 1 will have serious complications. If 1000.../5
...sick, 10 will. If 10,000? 100 kids. And this is with 1% chance of bad complications. That % is low example. Based on what we know so far, it's higher. We DONT know yet how high it will go, since we dont yet have research to know long-term damage. We do know lung lesions.../6
...turn up in a majority of the infected, even those who are asymptomatic - and all ages are affected.

But here is where the GOP inability to eve be able to play 1 dimensional checkers comes in. Bobby infects his teacher. Then his parents. They the three of them infect...
...another 4, bringing us to 8 infected. Then 16. Then on and on and on - now, an uncontrolled outbreak. And the risks for all of those people are not something that can be dismissed. And the teachers are going to empty out of the schools. And schools will close. The...
...very policy the GOP pushed for is reversed, with the consequences that the infection rate goes up, and people start dying in mass numbers - EXACTLY what happened when states opened too soon because the GOP could not comprehend beyond step one: YOU, Billy's dad, have only X%...
...risk of getting sick. And now, uncontrolled outbreak.

Next, @NikkiHaley whining about her popcorn. Look at her anger. She's mad at whoever is responsible. If this shipment is from the @USPS - she should be mad at the people slowing down deliveries: The Trump Administration...
...if it's not USPS, it doesn't matter. This is showing the anger that strikes when people don't get their packages. So you can see what will happen when 100 million people don't get their mail or mailed packages as they hear endlessly about post office slowdowns. Maybe the...
...problem is a delay by the popcorn company (using the analogy) but of the 100 million, how many - hearing what Trump is up to - will blame HIM? 1 million? 10 mill? 50 million? Let's say 50 million: 50 million people pissed as much as Haley - NOT at the Post Office. At Trump...
...and of those 50 million, how many will rage to their friends about Trump not even being able to get the mail delivered on time? Trump chortles seeing mail-in voting being crippled. I roll my eyes seeing popcorn deliveries, social security checks, medication, and an infinite...
...number of essential items not showing up on time, and millions furious at Trump and the GOP because of it.

Risk does not apply to just the one thing you're concerned about: An individual kid or mail-in ballots. It spreads. Mass outbreak - like mass mail delivery failures....
...are the consequences of looking at ONE goal - I want schools open, I want mail-in ballot slowed - & not realizing the world doesnt work that way. When things changed, everything else does not stay the same.

And this is the stupidity that underscores their incompetence.
