I HAVE A NETFLIX SHOW (!!!)

Emily's Wonder Lab premieres on @Netflix on August 25th!

This project is...a dream come true.

There’s no other way to put it. I cried like a baby when I got the call that Netflix wanted to work with me.
Sharing my love of science with kids...on @NETFLIX?
a DREAM.

And did I mention that I was 9 months pregnant when I filmed it?

Each episode features larger than life science - a pool of SLIME, walking across a room full of eggs, exploding paint cans - and an DIY experiment that you can do with materials you have at home.

Share this with anyone you know who needs fun, educational content right about now!

I’m especially proud to be a pregnant woman doing science on a platform like Netflix.

Personally, I think this sends a very cool message as to WHO is welcome in STEM. These careers aren't typically very welcoming to families, particularly women who want families.

A recent study found that 43% (FORTY THREE PERCENT!) of women left their full-time STEM job (they either moved to another field, stopped working altogether, or moved to part-time STEM work) after having their first child.

And it’s not just women - 23% of men left their full-time STEM careers after their first child as well.

STEM has a family problem. Those in STEM are not expected to have a personal life and are often punished for doing so.

This perception needs to change.

Obviously a kids science show doesn’t fix all this.

But this is all to say that it was especially meaningful to me to be a VERY visibly pregnant woman doing science on a platform like Netflix.
