Raising wages of nurses and other public sector workers could have gone some way into avoiding this recession. They chose not to.

Increasing universal credit entitlements and reducing waiting times could have helped avoid this recession. They chose not to.
Offering emergency cash, rent holidays and job guarantees in the public sector could have helped avoid this recession. They chose not to.
Bringing forward infrastructure investment and science and technology research projects, maximising employment in occupations which can be carried out from home could have gone a long way into avoiding this recession. They chose not to.
Providing retraining opportunities & creating new jobs for workers in the leisure industry, providing assistance to essential workers by facilitating housing close to places of employment & safe transport, could have helped avoid this recession.
