100+ organizations have joined the call to #DropTheADL. The campaign urges groups to rethink their relationship w/the Anti-Defamation League, which has a long history of spying on Black, Palestinian, & left-wing activists and undermining the rights of marginalized communities. Image
As early as the 1930s, the ADL spied on movement organizations, feeding information to the FBI. This surveillance continued for decades and targeted the Black freedom movement, activists against South African apartheid, Palestinian activists, and others.
In 1993, the San Francisco District Attorney investigated the ADL and found that an ADL-hired agent had been spying on and infiltrating movement organizations in seven different cities. Over 10,000 activists and 700 organizations were targeted. latimes.com/archives/la-xp…
The ADL agent reportedly received stolen police files and collected information on various Black, anti-apartheid, Arab, and pro-Palestinian groups. droptheadl.org/the-adl-is-not…
Today, the ADL partners with law enforcement as part of what @jvplive calls a “deadly exchange” program in which U.S. police go to Israel to train w/occupation forces, promoting repressive & discriminatory policing & surveillance practices. deadlyexchange.org
The ADL is no civil rights organization. It contributes to campus repression, Islamophobia, regressive narratives, and racism. That’s why many groups say it’s time to #DropTheADL. More resources can be found on the campaign website below droptheadl.org/resources/

THREAD: An immigration judge found Mahmoud Khalil “deportable” last week—but the fight isn’t over. Here’s what you should know about his legal case.
Mahmoud Khalil is a Columbia graduate who ICE agents abducted from his home in March because of his vocal opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Mahmoud was the first of many students abducted by ICE over their speech in support of Palestinian freedom.
The US government is keeping Mahmoud in an ICE detention center in Louisiana, over 1,000 miles away from his wife Dr. Noor Abdulla, who is 9 months pregnant with their first child.

THREAD: Today is tax day. Do you know how much federal tax dollars your city sends Israel to harm Palestinians?
In 2024, New York City gave Israel $560,221,619 in weapons for its genocide. That could have funded groceries for 1,178,793 New York families for a month.

Israel used that money to bomb Gaza's aid distribution centers and starve Palestinian families.
In 2024, Los Angeles gave Israel $238,666,273 in weapons for its genocide. That could have covered rent for 149,634 low-income households for a month.

Israel used that money to bomb and destroy thousands of Palestinian homes, burying entire families under rubble.

THREAD: Today a judge ruled the US can deport Mahmoud Khalil because of his speech.
The Louisiana judge ruled against Mahmoud even after a letter from the Trump administration admitted Mahmoud did not commit a crime and is being targeted solely based on his speech.
Mahmoud should have been released from detention today and allowed to return home to his wife, Dr. Noor Abdalla, who is 9 months pregnant.

Instead, he will remain detained without charge because he spoke up for Palestinian rights.

Here's what you need to know ⬇️
On April 9, 1948, militias that would soon become the Israeli military invaded the Palestinian town of Deir Yassin where they killed at least 107 Palestinians, including children.
The militias rounded up the men of Deir Yassin and paraded them through Jerusalem before executing them. They gathered women and children in the corners of their homes and shot them.

THREAD: Israel killed 15 paramedics in Gaza—then lied about it. After footage surfaced of Israel’s deadly attack on the first responders, Israel has walked back its statements.

Learn the facts ⬇️
On March 23, a group of first responders, including Palestinian Red Crescent Society paramedics, Civil Defense workers, and a UN staffer, were dispatched to help wounded Palestinians after an Israeli attack in Rafah, Gaza.
Upon their arrival, the Israeli military shot and killed at least 15 of the first responders. One remains missing. A week later their bodies and vehicles were discovered, crushed and buried in a mass grave.

Israel shot 3 Palestinian American children, killing one, in the West Bank town of Turmusayya on Sunday.

Omar Mohammad Rabea was a 14-year-old from New Jersey. He deserved to grow up in freedom and safety. With no accountability, Israel will keep killing children just like him.
“Omar’s death was entirely preventable and horrifically unjust. He was a child, a 14-year-old boy, with an entire life ahead of him.”

- From a statement read during funeral prayers for Omar at the Palestinian American Community Center in Clifton, NJ
Israel must be held accountable for its killings of American citizens – from aid workers, journalists, and humanitarian observers to children and the elderly.

Instead of pursuing justice for its citizens, the US government is backing Israel's impunity by arming its violence.
