100+ organizations have joined the call to #DropTheADL. The campaign urges groups to rethink their relationship w/the Anti-Defamation League, which has a long history of spying on Black, Palestinian, & left-wing activists and undermining the rights of marginalized communities.
As early as the 1930s, the ADL spied on movement organizations, feeding information to the FBI. This surveillance continued for decades and targeted the Black freedom movement, activists against South African apartheid, Palestinian activists, and others.
In 1993, the San Francisco District Attorney investigated the ADL and found that an ADL-hired agent had been spying on and infiltrating movement organizations in seven different cities. Over 10,000 activists and 700 organizations were targeted. latimes.com/archives/la-xp…
The ADL agent reportedly received stolen police files and collected information on various Black, anti-apartheid, Arab, and pro-Palestinian groups. droptheadl.org/the-adl-is-not…
Today, the ADL partners with law enforcement as part of what @jvplive calls a “deadly exchange” program in which U.S. police go to Israel to train w/occupation forces, promoting repressive & discriminatory policing & surveillance practices. deadlyexchange.org
The ADL is no civil rights organization. It contributes to campus repression, Islamophobia, regressive narratives, and racism. That’s why many groups say it’s time to #DropTheADL. More resources can be found on the campaign website below droptheadl.org/resources/

THREAD: The Department of Education finds Harvard responsible for failing to protect Palestinian students from rampant racism and harassment on campus.
Here’s what you need to know ⬇️
Palestinian, Arab & Muslim students filed a federal civil rights complaint in Jan. 2024. The DOE investigated & concluded that Harvard intentionally ignored or dismissed nearly all students who sought help facing racism, violence, doxxing & harassment.
This is an important step in recognizing Harvard’s role in fostering racism and hate against students speaking up against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The settlement says Harvard must make changes to address its discrimination against Palestinian students and allies.
THREAD: Trump wants to force Palestinians to leave Gaza and go to other countries. That's ethnic cleansing.
On Saturday, Trump said he wanted to “clean out” Gaza by forcing over a million Palestinians who live there into Egypt and Jordan. That’s ethnic cleansing, or the systematic forced removal of an ethnic, racial, or religious group from an area.
Ethnic cleansing is illegal under international law—but that hasn’t stopped Israel from doing it in the past.
Israel was founded by violently ethnically cleansing Palestinian towns and cities in 1948 and has continued to steal Palestinian land by brutally forcing Palestinians to leave their homes ever since.
THREAD: Israel has already violated the ceasefire in Gaza. The international community must ensure Israel abides by the ceasefire going forward.
The day after the Gaza ceasefire went into effect, an Israeli sniper shot and killed a Palestinian child named Zakaria as he was returning to his home in Rafah. The Israeli soldier then shot at a man who tried to reach Zakaria’s body.
Israel has a history of violating ceasefire agreements in Gaza. These violations often receive little coverage in mainstream US media, allowing Israel to keep killing Palestinians with impunity.
THREAD: The Human Toll of Israel’s Genocide in Gaza Cannot be Overstated
With the backing of the US, Israel has unleashed horror after horror on the people of Gaza, where nearly half of the population are children, for over 15 months.
Here's what you need to know ⬇️
In 15 months of committing genocide in Gaza, Israeli soldiers have killed over 70,000 Palestinians through traumatic injury alone, according to estimates from medical journal @TheLancet.
Nearly 60% of the Palestinians Israel has killed were children, women, and the elderly.
Israel has also killed thousands of Palestinians through deliberate starvation, destroying medical facilities & blocking necessities—including food, medicine, and water—from entering Gaza.
THREAD: @Columbia University pushed law professor Katherine Franke to resign after 25 years of teaching at the university because she showed solidarity with students who opposed Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
She’s not alone.
In an appalling violation of the principles of academic freedom, faculty and students across the country have been targeted, harassed, and even assaulted for standing against genocide.
Universities should be promoting academic freedom by allowing students and professors the freedom to express their ideas without retaliation.
THREAD: Over 12,000 Palestinians need an urgent medical evacuation from Gaza to save their lives, but between May and December 2024, Israel approved just 400 evacuations.
Source: @WHO
Israel’s genocide and mass starvation of Palestinians has left countless people with life-altering injuries, illnesses, amputations, and medical complications in need of urgent attention.
But Israel has systematically destroyed Gaza’s healthcare system, bombing hospitals and killing and abducting medical professionals.
