2/7 -Mifegymiso, "the abortion pill", is available under medicare*
- You do not need the permission of any doctor to receive a surgical abortion**

3/7 *Mifegymiso is only available with a prescription. In SJ, Moncton and Fredericton you can get this at a sexual health clinic rather than a GP. If you live in a small community with no sexual health clinic, with a conservative doctor, you're fucked.

4/7 ** For surgical abortion to be covered under medicare it has to be done at one of the THREE approved hospitals. Two in Moncton and one in Bathurst. THREE hospitals or the whole province and none in southern NB.
The procedure also has to be before you reach 13 weeks and 6 days

5/7 Clinic 554 will perform a surgical abortion up to 15 weeks and 6 days. But because NB Medicare doesn't cover private clinic abortions this will cost anywhere from $700-$850. Clinic 554 is the closest location for anyone in the SJ and area.

6/7 Clinic 554 is also one of only two gender clinics in NB. Along with being just a regular doctor's office.
The refusal to fund this clinic is a targeted, malicious attack on women and LGBTQ+ people. @BlaineHiggs is a misogynist and a transphobe.

7/7 Saving this clinic is only the first step, NB needs to haul ass to get to where it needs to be in terms of gender care and sexual health practice. SJ has virtually no resources in these fields, our rural communities have none and it is unacceptable.
