It looks like my fears about Trump stooge Louis DeJoy being as corrupt as the men Trump once appointed him to be RNC finance co-chairs with—Michael Cohen and Elliott Broidy—were well-founded. It's wholly unacceptable for him to have these conflicts of interest while heading USPS.
Per experts, his conflicts are "major" and "shocking." CNN says they raise "alarms." Indeed, "on the same day in June DeJoy divested large amounts of Amazon shares, he purchased options giving him the right to buy new shares at a price much lower than their current market price."
And: "Walt Schaub—now a senior adviser at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington—suggested that if DeJoy doesn't divest his holdings soon, it could be construed as an illegal conflict of interest. He questioned why [USPS] ethics officials approved this arrangement."
CNN writes that "it's illegal under federal law for federal government employees or their spouses to have a 'financial interest' in companies that intersect with their official duties." Apparently DeJoy had many options to avoid this illegality—and he took precisely none of them.
