Laban Otieno was a diabetic patient who got hospitalised for ten 10 days before he passed on from Covid
His Sh5mn, 20-page bill showed 10 units of PPE/day at Sh4,000 each. On one day, he was billed for 84 N95 masks at Sh2,000 each.

Another Covid patient was charged for 8 sets of PPEs a day, at Sh3,500 a set.
The Kemri policy brief to guide prices for Covid-19 treatment indicates:
-Asymptomatic patients: Sh21,359/day
-Mild: Sh21,361
-Severe: Sh24,705
-Critical: Sh51,684
PPE comprises 60% of the cost
Meanwhile, the funds received to fight Covid are lying idle in bank vaults
