anti-vaxxers have multiple 100 page documents of links to real scientific studies that they believe support their views! enough that it'd take you or i years to debunk them all! they believe it cuz they're support network does and we don't because ours doesn't
this is also why the only way to ever change anyone's mind for real is to build relationships with them and offer them a path to a social network which accepts and supports their changed beliefs (there's little scarier to humans than the threat of social death)

how do you choose which media/news sites are trustworthy? what criteria are you measuring against, if youre always relying on some form of media to report what you can't personally witness? even if we assumed it was possible to objectively evaluate a news sources trustworthiness
when is the last time you like, read let alone performed a thorough review of that news source's retraction rate, or the how it fairs cross referenced against other sources (which sources?)

i believe that msnbc and NYT publish blatantly false imperialist propaganda. liberals see these as the bulwark of reason against the rights media, which i also think is bunk. i rely on a terribly small set of left outlets for understanding what is happening in the world. why?
in any of these cases, are the consumers of such media performing their own fact finding to validate them? or are they at best cross checking against other media they're similarly placing trust in?
