Some of us are feeling a little anxious around #lockdownnz version 2 with kids – here are some preliminary findings from our @KidsShareNZ survey about kids perceptions of lockdown and some resources that might be helpful (a thread!)…

1. Time with you matters!
Kids appreciated having extra time with whānau – they enjoyed having family members home from work, having meals together, going out for walks together. Family time is one of the most frequently mentioned things that kids liked about being in lockdown

2. Get outside if you can
Kids loved their new car-less neighbourhoods, they mentioned enjoying the quiet and peace, seeing and hearing birds, and being outdoors and in nature. Just going for a walk together is awesome.

3. It’s the simple things
PJ days, watching movies, drawing, playing ball, discovering special “thinking spots,” filling a “gratitude jar,” putting up teddies or art for the NZ Bear Hunt, hunting for bears and just having time to "chill" were all appreciated.
