Anyone who has filed a petition in the Supreme Court knows that the Registry will pick out the smallest "defect" & make you re-file.

It is, therefore, surprising that a defective petition against @pbhushan1 by Mahek Maheshwari was turned into a suo-moto contempt case.

Maheshwari's case was never allotted a case number. It was given Diary Number 14323/2020 pending scrutiny.

He had also filed an application seeking exemption from taking the permission of the Attorney General which is mandatory in criminal contempt cases.

For any normal petitioners like us, SC Registry would give back the petition, ask to clear the defects (sometimes even little things like page numbers), and then re-file.

Maheshwari's defective petition, however, was taken by the Registry directly before the judges.

Was Maheshwari's petition against @pbhushan1 scrutinized for defects?

Were the defects cleared?

Why was this taken by the Registry directly to the judges for listing & made suo-moto instead?

I've filed an RTI with the Supreme Court for these details.

We must know.
