Since we are talking about #AntiIndiaFacebook let me tell you a lil about how social media functions.
A small thread 👇👇👇
Read the entire thing.
Social media caters to our base instincts- love, fear, hate, erotic desires, carnal desires, immediate satiation that doesn't last.
In such an environment, giving a gali works at least 3x as better as telling someone they are incorrect.
The more you engage, the more clout you gain. Algorithms understand your back-and-forth with people based on totally emotional grounds as "high engagement" and they push your ideas further.
Your ideas or thoughts that excite these base emotions travel faster and wider. You gain more clout and influence. You go on and on and on untill you become a hate monger and polarizing figure yourself.
When social media reacts very strongly to such base instincts and when when such reactions are considered "influence" you will get nothing but polarization and hate speech. It is an eventuality.
Don't trust my words? Check out what kind of tweets get the most engagement. Do they excite a base emotion? Do they scintillate, scandalize or just plain be idiotic?
Open your eyes, engage your mind. Social media isn't designed for conversation. It is designed for profit
Meanwhile, apply the same formula to news or any other kind of media. You remember "Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Ata Hai" because it was a good song. But you would have ripped the soul out of "Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Ek bar aja aja" when it released.
See?
