To combat climate change, we need to drive less and switch to public transport. The Coastal Road takes us in the wrong direction, increasing pollution and car density.

Only 33 km of Mumbai’s 167 km coastline is walkable and accessible to citizens. The Coastal Road takes more space away from people and gives it to cars.

A Supreme Court committee determined that reclamation of the Mithi river was a big factor in the 2005 floods. Reclamation for the Coastal Road will similarly worsen flooding.
