Got a lot of ideas and learnings from 'How to Crush it on Twitter' by @david_perell and @mkobach

Thread👇🏽
Twitter is so valuable because you have some of the world's smartest people in your pocket at all times and a lot of them will interact with you
Being a good synthesizer is a valuable skill to have but especially for Twitter. You have to be able to take complex thoughts and distill them into simple components
Twitter is a writing improvement tool unlike any other. You can get constant and instantaneous feedback from so many different sources
A good tweet is made up of four parts:
- compression (make it concise)
- no spam (don't be annoying)
- simplicity (easy to digest for the reader)
- novelty (a new perspective)
Curate your feed.

Follow individual accounts instead of publications and avoid Twitter recommendations. You want to create a feed of people you can actually interact with.

Unfollow stressors and spammers.
Your pinned tweet is the set up for your account. It frames your profile for anyone new who is looking at it for the first time
Every tweet should have one idea.

The first sentence of a tweet is the most important and you should think of it like the subject of an email. Condense it as much as possible so that your audience knows what to expect.
Your Twitter bio should tell people three things:
- who you are
- what you do
- what they should expect if they follow you.

People need to know what you stand for.
Be unbelievably specific when you start.

Over time you can expand your thoughts but you need a critical mass of followers who come to you for a niche before you can do that
Post a lot and reflect on what worked and what didn't. Emulate what worked and discard what didn't.

Do this often to refine how you are framing your thoughts to your audience.
You want to be a lighthouse for like-minded people
Stay true to who you are but also format your tweets in a way that others can resonate with so that they will join your audience.
More people are consuming information now instead of creating. You can be one of the ones who creates so don't be afraid to do so and put yourself out there.
Direct messages are the dark matter of Twitter.

We can't measure them but they are highly valuable. These are genuine conversations that build relationships. Use them.
Twitter advanced search is a secret weapon.

Utilize it to find even more insights and value from people you enjoy following.
Lots of great stuff in here that changes the way I think about using this platform. Thanks for the tips, @david_perell and @mkobach!

If others have tips they've learned along the way - I'm all ears!
