2/ Arriving at Wacker Dr protesters found a police line formed that prevented their eastbound march and a formidable rear line on Michigan Ave. Unclear if Westbound Wacker was blocked at this point, but it was later. This is a lingering question. Why did they close in here?
3/ A standoff of sorts. Kettling progresses, protesters prepare and self-protect, tensions escalate to pushing, shoving, hitting, and pepper spray.
4/ Video of the physical clash between protesters and Chicago police. From my vantage-point, I can't comment how it initiated but other documenters can through their photo/video reporting. #chicagoprotests
5/ Two women are aggresively pulled from the crowd, along with her bikes, and "cuffed" (perhaps arrested) by police with support of SWAT team members.
6/ Police open one way out, forcing protesters back South on Michigan Ave. This was a large police presence in the same realm as the May 30th riverfront protests and the Columbus statue incident.
7/ Protesters march west on Randolph St. stopping at State St and other intersections, each time pushed onward by police, including the use of more pepper spray.
8/ Injured protesters flush their eyes with water with assistance from medics and other protesters.
9/ South on LaSalle St. followed closely by police. As seen, I fell behind the police line, unable to detail the outcome, but did see police run as they chase protesters into a final kettling. In the aftermath, protester's bikes are piled up.
9/ (continued). One person who exited reported being surrounded, backpacks searched, dispersed individually, while some protesters were picked from the group for arrest.
