I am an election nerd, always have been always will be, and my colleagues at @NBCNews have given me (and all of us) a great and critically important gift.
PLAN YOUR VOTE: A state-by-state guide to voting by mail and early in-person voting. nbcnews.com/specials/plan-…
Shared this before, but here’s the voting machine I got for my 26th birthday. From the 2000 Florida recount, hanging chads and all. My wife made me take it to storage. I don’t blame her. I keep it as a reminder of how many people are still disenfranchised by barriers to voting.
And here’s a video I made when last year I got this machine which dates to 1800s. Paper ballots. Locked box. Pretty sure it’s an Acme and it was designed to ensure an honest vote, according to @smithsonian. Reminder that we can have safe and secure voting.
While you’re here: there’s absolutely no good reason whatsoever we vote on Tuesdays. (Obviously please do everything you can to make it happen if, like in Mississippi, it’s your only option.) And thank you for coming to my actual @WhyTuesday TED Talk.
Here are the ways you can use the @NBCNews and @MSNBC#PlanYourVote tool to make sure your voice is heard and your vote is counted on (or before!) Election Day.
Thanks @3rdHourTODAY for allowing me to unleash my inner election nerd.
At least I admit it.

Very sorry to hear the @latimes shut its Olympic Printing Plant after 30 years. I toured it in 2007, when I was vlog-reporting for @laobserved. It was amazing and everyone was so welcoming and kind, as you can see.
South Carolina’s remarkable economic growth is changing the electorate. We went inside BMW’s massive plant (where I took a mallet to a $200K car), and to West Greenville, where the Black population has declined as prices force residents out, to learn more.

Six years ago, Trump officials held a Valentine's Day meeting in which deliberately separating migrant kids from parents was proposed. Thousands ultimately were.
Two years after creating a task force to reunite them, Biden's DHS says over 600 have been, but 998 remain separated.
Biden admin's task force, led by @MichelleBrane, says the "number of new families identified continues to increase, as families come forward and identify themselves as separated under the previous administration’s zero-tolerance policy." dhs.gov/news/2023/02/0…
Meanwhile, as it reunites families separated by a Trump policy Biden himself called "criminal," his admin is fighting them in court as they seek financial restitution for trauma they endured. Here's just one example, reported by @ElviaMalagon. chicago.suntimes.com/2023/2/1/23579…
This was a truly remarkable story to report and thing to witness. Researchers at @Stanford think they may have discovered a remarkable breakthrough when it comes to treating Parkinson’s patients — and it’s as simple as putting on a pair of gloves.
