The mostly unknown story of the Hariri Tribunal is that of senior Lebanese ISF intelligence officer Wissam Eid, a computer genius who cracked the Hezbollah mobile phone network that became the central prosecution evidence in the STL. Eid was assassinated in a car bomb in 2008. 
While the international investigation floundered, Wissam Eid nearly singlehandedly solved the case, using nothing but raw data and an Excel spreadsheet. He was threatened and subsequently murdered for this, while his remarkable evidence went largely ignored.
A year after his death, the STL was set up. Eid never got to see his investigation become the foundation of an international criminal tribunal. 7 years later, his family have received no justice & his killers have not been identified, despite the entire country knowing who did it
Wissam Eid's bravery and brilliance deserves to be recognised the world over. I hope to write his story in full one day, far too few people know his sacrifice.
The martyr Wissam Eid was murdered, alongside 12 others, by a suicide bomber on January 25th 2008, after informing his family of death threats from Hezbollah. He was 31 years old. Remember his name today as the verdicts are read out.
