/an unwritten rule is never tweet while on vacation. I will break that because of the stupidity surrounding the 3-0 grand slam by Fernando Tatis Jr. I will not reiterate points others have made well, but will throw one in that I have not seen. Baseball is a serial game, played
/near daily (2020 proviso: except for when a pandemic prevents that). So what happens Monday, impacts Tuesday, etc., especially surrounding pitching usage. How many times have we seen a team with a big lead have it whittled late and still hang on to win but have to use or warm
/up 1 of its better relievers to make sure a huge lead is not completely squandered. That impacts availability for the next day. On Monday night, the same night that Tatis homered, the Mets went to the ninth inning leading 11-2, but Franklyn Kilome allowed 2 runs and the bases
/were loaded. Luis Rojas had Seth Lugo warming and 1 batter away from having to come into the game. Kilome got thru it. But does that impact Lugo's availability in any way today or, if used today, tomorrow? I bet Rojas wishes the Mets' lead was 15-2 rather than 11-2. Here
/should be the "unwritten rule:" if the the other team concedes and says it will stop trying to score then the club in the lead should agree to do the same. Only in baseball could a team and its pitchers stink in a game and project a problem onto a hitter on the other club.
/And only in baseball would the manager and player apologize for the sin of trying to score more runs in a game. The sore losers are the ones who get to decide what is right or wrong. Ridiculous. Had to get that off my chest. Back to vacation.
