Few books (non-technical & non-fictional) which have strongly influenced my thought & life.

I have read all of these on the wrong side of 30, but I wish I could have read those at 18.

(In no particular order)

THREAD Books: The Silk Roads, Fool...
Sapiens (Yuval Noah Harari)

The best way to become a good human being is to realize that we are nothing more than animals with little better brain.

@harari_yuval describes how humans evolved over time from another helpless animal to the most cruel & insecure animal on earth.
The Silk Roads (Peter Frankopan)

@peterfrankopan talks about the history of the world (from ancient days till 20xx) mostly focusing on Asia.

Current world is the product of few human beings (across different geographies & time) hunger for power and ego.
Factfulness (Hans Rosling)

In a data driven way @HansRosling describes the progress we have made so far as humanity

He says that we are actually doing much better than we think

With time, more people are able to come out of poverty, get educated and live a life of dignity.
Poor Economics by Abhijit V. Banerjee.

21 lessons for the 21st century by Yuval Noah Harari (@harari_yuval).

Where are we heading towards?
Early Indians by Tony Joseph

Based on archaeological, linguistic & genetic evidences, @tjoseph0010 describes how current population of India evolved over time

It has helped me to understand the (caste and religion based) society of India better than ever before
Thinking, Fast & Slow (Daniel Kahneman)

With hundreds of physiological experiments, author shows that most of the decisions taken by human beings are biased & irrational

We take decision first & then rationalize

Intelligence & rationalism are two different things
Fooled by Randomness - Nassim Nicholas Taleb (@nntaleb)

"Mild success can be explainable by skills & labor. Wild success is attributable to variance."

Humans are fools refusing the role of luck & attributing their success only to their talent and hard work.
"How to Get Rich without getting lucky" by Naval Ravikant (@naval)

It's not just about getting rich, but more about understanding life and evolve through it

A podcast, but refer to the transcript if you like to read

nav.al/rich
Outlier by Malcolm Gladwell (@Gladwell).

Three things are needed for success: Talent, opportunity and hard work.

Often first two are not in our control, but the third one is.

In a society (India) where we believe only in talent & destiny, knowing this could be a game changer
Atomic Habits by James Clear (@JamesClear ).

The best "actionable" book available in 2020 on how to build a good habit and break a bad one

Helped me personally to come out of my procrastination loop and perform
