Even if Trump is defeated and is forced to accept defeat, the time between that acceptance and his removal in January will be extraordinarily dangerous. He will do a TREMENDOUS amount of damage on his way out the door, potentially at the peak of a second wave. People have no idea
I think we would see a lot of election-specific retaliatory action, policy wise and supply distribution wise. In winter, during a 2nd wave of COVID, in a moment of massive economic depression -- think about the possibilities for retribution. We need powerful mutual aid networks.
I think we would also prob see him push through as many deportations as possible during that time. He has been deporting people steadily despite COVID-19 running rampant in ICE detention and I think that practice would only accelerate. There would be escalations in cruelty.
I think all of this would also be true if he won, only worse. In that case, a new wave of violence would be tied to his power becoming entrenched. That's a scarier world IMO. Bc as ugly as surviving Trump will be, I don't think he can be allowed to hold onto power.
Either way, we will need fierce networks of community care and mutual aid. We will need them to get through the winter and to either keep each other alive under full blown fascism or to care for each other as we fight under neoliberalism. It's all a fight.
