I followed the Seams Study and wrote about it and the key players in my 2019 book, Superpower, about the need to build a supergrid in the U.S.

I built a lot of the intellectual backbone of my book around the study.

So, if you want a cleaner, cheaper, better grid with more flexibility and more renewables... we can build it. It will more than likely pay for itself. But it will speed up the death of the coal industry.

The @DOE played favorites, favoring one fuel source over another.

Who lost? I'd argue that we all did. We know how to build a cleaner, cheaper, stronger, more resilient energy system. We have the technology and funding. Politics is standing in the way.
