Early on in the lockdown, a whatsapp group turned into an board game night over Hangouts, and it's the best craic. Still going strong thanks to one of the lads having an apparently endless collection of games, so I made this dice tower for him.
Cedar tower and holly dice.
I've only seen pictures and videos of these yokes, so I made a prototype out of foamboard. It looks sloppy because the first tray was taking up too much table space so I chopped it, and then had find an internal ramp arrangement that worked..
so, yeah, eventually figured it out and ploughed on with the build. Sorry, this is hard to do the demo with one hand while recording with the other.
Holly Dice-Tower is a fairly plausible Guardian journalist name.

I've seen a few comments lately about the "caol le caol, leathan le leathan" rule for spelling. (Slender w/ slender, broad w/ broad). Some people have trouble remembering which vowels are slender, and when the rule applies.
In English, most people say the vowels in alphabetical order; AEIOU.
But it's worth breaking it up into slender (IE) and broad (AOU) to get your head around Irish spelling.
I used to just think of Irish websites being .ie to help me remember.
I also think it's good to see if you can let a kind of letter-colour synesthesia build up, so that mistakes stand out a bit more quickly.
(btw, this thread will be pretty annoying for people who actually have letter-colour synesthesia)
