1) In 1948, as soon as Burma gained independence, the Karens [converted Christians] revolted against `Buddhist Burma'. Karens wanted their own Christian state. The one person who could have held Burma together, Aung San, was assassinated, with British help to ensure chaos.
2) Capt. David Vivian, a `rogue officer' helpfully sold the weapons to the opponents of Aung San, helping them assassinate Aung San. He was freed by the Karens and fled to UK. The Karens revolted against the Burmese state, and the Burmese army was ordered to disarm Karens.
3) As soon as the order reached the Burmese army, not only the Karen units [there were three Karen battalions in the Burmese army and all three revolted], but also the Kachin battalion, one of the best units, revolted against Burma because the Kachins were mostly Christian.
A short thread about the demographics of Haldwani-Kathgodam municipality. Let us see what has been happening to it since 1991. Since we don't have any census past 2011, we will limit our analysis to 1991-2011 census.
1) In 1991, Haldwani-Kathgodam had a total population of 1.04 lakhs. Out of this, the Hindu population was 67K and the Muslim population was 32K. There were also ~4K Sikhs. In short, the Muslim population was 31% of the city.
2) The population of the municipality exploded to 1.59 lakhs, an astonishing rise of 52% in 10 years. The demographics were now 1.07 lakh Hindus, and 45K Muslims. The Hindu population grew by 60%, while the Muslim population grew by 41%. In short, Hindu growth was greater!
1) An interesting bit of news from my village in Hassan district. Apparently, last night, they had arranged for band set and procession, with the dragging of the chariot with the murti of Shree Raama in the evening [traditional for my village, BTW - all utsavas are in evenings]
2) But when they had just begun around 2000 in the evening, police turned up and told them that they had orders to prevent any utsavas and the police officer in charge pleaded that he was also a Hindu like them, but he had his orders and he had to prevent that utsava.
3) Initially, people were upset but backed down under the threat of police action. However, someone went and called HD Revanna and A Manju to come and help. Revanna intervened for the villages where utsavas had been cancelled, and forced the police to back down.
1) Been seeing a few claims by apologists that the Gulf states would stop visas and/or deport Indians from the Gulf if India acted ruthlessly against the Islamist terrorists. Let us examine this claim a bit more closely, so that we can get some clarity.
2)a) The Gulf states cannot deport all Indians. Many Indians, especially those in higher levels of STEM, management, business, etc are indispensable in the short run for the economies of the Gulf states. They can be replaced, but Arabs would need to work at it for a few years.
3) b) A very large number of Indians in the Gulf are Indian Muslims. If the Gulf acted against them, the Muslims would be the hardest hit. They would return broken, and would be easy prey for the Gharwapsi activists in India, after their Islamic brethren booted them out.
The reason why Congress was so much better in 1950s and 1960s was because they had a large number of idealist freedom fighters in their ranks, even if their leaders were scum. The reason why BJP-RSS is horrible is because it is full of self-seekers and mercenaries. No one cares!
Sanghis are even worse. They are so completely brainwashed by their organisation that there is no chance of turning them into Hindus. Do this experiment. Go to a shakha. Praise Golwalkar/Savarkar first. Then abuse Raama/Krishna/Hindu Gods in unprintable terms. No one will object.
For a Sanghi, RSS is his church, the leader his God. Hinduism exists only to serve Sangh. Hindus should sign over their present resources and future prosperity to Sangh, because `Sangh knows best'. Hindus may live if Sangh allows it, they must die when Sangh demands it.
1) Here is a claim that Persians folded ~2.5 years after Muslim conquest of Persia. With no assertion it this is an exhaustive set of revolts against the Islamists by Zoroastrians, let us examine this claim.
2) On a side note, before we actually examine Zoroastrian resistance, Muhammad saw Byzantine-Sassanid war and was greatly displeased with Sassanid victories in the initial stages, since it was infidel victory against people of the book. So, Islam was very hostile to Zoroastrians.
3) Resistance began immediately after Arab conquest. A Zoroastrian general, Hormozaan, in southern Iraq-Khuzestan revolted against Arabs in ~656 AD, fought for ~5 years, before he was captured and force-converted to Islam. His soldiers and their families were sold as slaves.
