Thread on the racist leader of a District Council Labour Group:

Cllr Charmaine Morgan is the Labour Group Leader on South Keveston District Council. SKDC is responsible for providing services to a population of around 160,000.

Cllr Morgan is active on Twitter and has a history of interacting with anti-Jewish racists who have been expelled from Labour, most notably Maureen Fitzsimmons who was apparently expelled in February 2020 (years after having been reported to the party).

When Maureen Fitzsimmons was expelled, she tweeted how Labour Friends of Israel members were “paid agents of Israel” and had committed acts of treason.

Cllr Morgan – Leader of a Labour group – replied supportively to this racist conspiracy theory containing tweet, suggesting that Fitzsimmons’ “freedom of speech has been undermined”.

Cllr Morgan is happy to align with someone removed from Labour for virulent anti-Jewish racism.

Cllr Morgan has herself regularly posted antisemitic material & i will post some examples here.

In this tweet she attacks the Panorama whistle-blowers and refers to the “antisemitism myth”

Here Cllr Morgan refers to a “right-wing Israeli movement” at work accusing innocent people of being antisemitic

In this tweet Cllr Morgan states that Israel is attacking the individual rights of American citizens

Here we see Cllr Morgan stating that Israel interfered in the December 2019 UK election.

And of course, Cllr Morgan is supportive of Chris Williamson, expelled from Labour for anti-Jewish racism.

Lastly, Cllr Morgan attacked the recent Lab leadership candidates for signing up to @BoardofDeputies 10 pledges & attacked the BoD for being unelected. Which is of course simply incorrect as well as being racist & offensive.

Each instance posted here represents a clear breach of Labour’s stated endorsement/adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
Cllr Morgan repeatedly promotes anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and has attacked the most historic communal organisation of British Jews.

Cllr Morgan represents some of the worst of the embedded anti-Jewish racism deep in the heart of the party.

@LabourAgainstAS have this morning reported Cllr Morgan to @UKLabour and we are calling on @Keir_Starmer to take immediate action against this racist Lab Group leader

AS MPs whose constituencies include the SKDC area, I am sure that @GarethDavies_MP @drcarolinej and John Hayes MP will want to ensure that Labour take swift action against Cllr Morgan.

Finally – yet again it is Jews & our allies who have to do the work to rid Labour of anti-Jewish racism. The fact that I still have to do this (it’s been 6 long years for me) proves that Labour is unfit and/or unwilling to proactively eliminate racism from it’s ranks.
