No matter how angry God gets with the isrealites, He always kept for himself a remnant.
God's promise to king Hezekiah in the chapter that was read to us showed how He promised to bring back fruitfulness to His people after all they had been through.
Fruitfulness is God's plan for us at all times (Col 2:6).
Roots are symbolic of stability while fruits are symbolic of prosperity.
God's mind for us is to take roots deep down and bear fruit upwards (John 15:8).
Roots are essential for survival (Job 14:7). They help us as christians to survive different seasons of our lives be it prosperity or adversity.
As a believer, make every effort to take root deep down. It's God desire that we become people of depth and attain stability in God.
Only mature people give birth so its impossible for an immature believer to bear fruits.
Jesus' parable in Matthew 13 showed to us that the seed had the capacity to bear much fruits but the place it fell and the events afterwards determined what was produced.
Seeds that fell by the way side (Matthew 13:4,19). This is the category of those who hear the word but do not understand it. Their lack of understanding of the word makes them easy preys for the devil.
There are certain notions in our heart that make it difficult for the word of God to take roots in our heart. A believer who wants to grow should be opened to the word.
In other not to fall in this category of seeds by the way side, "Have a strong desire to seek out to know the word" (Psalm 19:7).
Category two: Matthew 13:5-6;20-21
These set of believers hear the word, receive it with joy but have no roots.
Our excitement shouldn't just be to hear the word but been ready to practice what the word says.
Category three: Matthew 13:7, 22
They have the capacity to bear fruits but distractions, discouragement prevents them from bearing fruits.
Challenges will come but what matters most is how you come out of those challenges. For all the things Job suffered, it was recorded that he never sinned against God.
Distractions could be in form of offences, deceitfulness of riches. In all, the place of understanding cannot be over emphasized.
The most important part of your daily life is your quiet time, AVOID DISTRACTIONS.
Category four Matthew 13:9;23
They hear the word, understand it and stay focused. They are diligent to observe what the word says (2Timothy 2:15).
Diligence in study and in doing the word (2Peter 1:11).
To be rooted, the location i.e the state of our heart is very important (Proverbs 4:23)
Your heart cannot be empty so its either you go all the way with God or allow the devil to take control.
The state of our heart is a pointer to taking roots and how fruitful we will eventually become.
You're as strong as what you know therefore watch the level of knowledge and understanding of the word of God you know.
Don't try to use the Bible to support your actions but rather allow what the Bible says influence your actions and decisions at every point in time.
Life will become easier when seen in the light of God's word.
Taking roots deep down, bearing fruits upward is what God desires of us.
Appreciate God for His word. Thank God for the simplicity of His word and for the light you have received.
Prayer: Lord, work upon my heart. I prepare my heart to be a good ground for your word to grow. Help me Lord to stay by the rivers (the word). May my life bring forth fruits to the honor and praise of your name.
