Very interesting discussion!
Bottom line: our Churches need a better template to run more effectively.
Same thing I've always been hammering on: THE CHURCH IN NIGERIA IS RUNNING A WRONG TEMPLATE...
"For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us."
Isaiah 33:22.
He explained that the 3 arms of government in a democracy are herein arrogated to God...
The Judiciary.
The Lord is our Lawgiver:
The Legislature.
The Lord is our King:
The Executive.
If Christians have an understanding of this, we won't be this concerned with this.
No Human Law can stand against God's Church: God works all things for our good.
It has come to stay.
Christians bodies (CAN & PFN) can do more by drawing out a Corporate Governance Template for Churches to be more effective in how they manage their affairs.
Corporate Governance IS the problem.
To me, just as the COVID-19 lockdown made us realise our worship & knowledge of God is about our personal relationship with Him NOT Church activities, this CAMA act should make Churches change their Corporate Governance Template.
Our churches MUST be transparently run.
Isn't it strange only Pentecostal Churches have issues with the CAMA act?
The Orthodox Churches & Islamic Organisations have no problems with it.
Only the guilty are afraid.
Where Church income is seen as the Pastor's money, there will be a problem.
The other option for our Churches is to register as Companies & pay tax.
Yes, the CAMA Act has grey areas, it can be tweaked to be better- but it won't be repealed.
I think it will weed out the mushroom Churches all over the Country & the noise on Friday nights & Sunday mornings will significantly reduce!
