@CNN @thedailybeast @WaPo While you and others in the media are gloating in ink about the removal of Mary Ann Mendoza's speech last night I would like to remind you of the over 800,000 grieving families across this nation whom you chose to have cancelled last night with her.
2) While Mary Ann did make a mistake in retweeting that article attached to a lengthy thread that she didn't open and fully read, intent means everything and there was no intent to be antisemitic, it was in every form an honest mistake.
3) I've known Mary Ann for 3 years, she was the first person to reach down into the pit of despair that surrounded me after my daughter's tragic death and lifted me up and gave me hope we could effect positive change and save other family's from our tragedies.
4) When the majority of my former fellow democrat party members were sending me vile hate tweets & mocking my daughter's death when I said, "Hey these drugs are killing our children we have to shut down the drug highway". She gave me hope that we could do something to save others
5) As we speak the numbers of our loved ones dying continues to rise as non-citizen criminal elements and drug cartels infest our nation. A recent dual university study discovered that drug related deaths are more than DOUBLE what the CDC is reporting, but you don't talk about it
6) In 2016 alone more than 142,000 lives were lost, the majority of those deaths driven by heroin and illicit fentanyl coming across the SW border. More than 800,000 lives have been lost to drug related causes in 7 years and it's not slowing down.
7) Over 5,000 families a year are getting knocks on their doors or phone calls to tell them that their children were murdered by non-citizen criminals and none of you seem to care. In fact not only do you not care, you ignore us which is just as painful as the losses themselves.
8) Since COVID overdose deaths are doubling last years numbers in cities across this nation. Now with the introduction of counterfeit pills containing illicit fentanyl,up to 25% of overdose deaths are in young people who have no history of substance abuse at all.
9) Our grief doesn't end, not one of us gets to wake up one day and everything is okay. After the loss of a child everyone else gets to walk away and restart their lives, but our former lives ended with our children's, there is no restart.
10) While you are celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas, birthdays and special occasions these days are painful reminders to us of what we have lost, we spend those days crying in cemeteries all over this nation.
11) There is not a single moment of any hour of any day that we are unaware of the absence of our children's presence nor a moment when that far too familiar stabbing knife of grief isn't piercing our hearts.
12) We used to be a nation that raged if anyone dared to come into our house and hurt our people but instead of embracing our grieving families, people such as yourself have denigrated us, mocked us and magnified our pain a million times over as we are bullied, mocked and ignored
13) As if our lifelong grief and suffering wasn't enough, now you went out of your way to denigrate and cancel us and for what? Politics. Far too many people have checked their humanity at the door for a political "win", I hope to God that I never do that.
14) All Mary Ann and Angel Families want to do is to prevent you and your family from suffering our pain. We want to stop the criminal elements sneaking into our country hiding among migrants who are hurting our families,
15) We want to shut down the drug highway harming our children and communities and enact common sense border and immigration policies that allow for immigration but keep out the criminal elements.
16) We want to stop the exploitation of migrant families by the cartels and start helping our neighbors to the south instead of ignoring the human tragedies of biblical proportions occurring on both sides of the border.
17) We want to stop sanctuary city policies that have provided shelter to these criminal elements and drug cartels which are in turn destroying our families and communities.
18) We have reached out from the pits of our own pain and devastation enduring some of the most incredibly vile politically motivated attacks imaginable in this fight to keep YOUR family safe from what destroyed ours.
19) That's the most brave, unselfish and honorable thing anyone can do when suffering from such an enormous loss and a single retweet should never have been highlighted solely for political gain to undo our enormous personal sacrifices.
20) After finding such hope yesterday that our message to save lives would be received, our hopes were destroyed by a media who twisted a mistake and took that opportunity away from us.
21) I can tell you that I spent my night crying, as I so often do but this time my tears weren't for my daughter, they were for you and every other family who will eventually be touched by these tragic losses and suffer my family's fate.
22) I truly and deeply pray that you never have to endure the loss of a child. I pray even more that it's never due to something that could be so easily prevented.
23) I pray that in your grief you never have to experience the hate and vitriol piled on top of your suffering that we have endured. I pray that your grief is never ignored and that people rally around you instead of trampling you even further into despair and turning away..
24) The over 800,000 grieving families across this nation that were silenced last night is nothing to celebrate. It's a wake up call that when we can't find love and caring in our hearts for our fellow countrymen who are suffering alone in darkness, we are all truly lost.
