For more than a year, we've been uncovering how Americans are experiencing the climate crisis & charting a path toward big, bold solutions.

Our #CaseForClimateAction report documents our findings. Here’s a #thread of the key takeaways, chapter by chapter. democrats.senate.gov/climate-report
Decarbonizing our electric sector is not only possible — it’s cheaper & healthier.

By replacing most fossil fuel power with clean energy, we’ll save Americans money on their utility bills.
We have an opportunity right now to lead the world in clean manufacturing — and we can’t pass that up.

By making the transition now, we’ll create jobs, revitalize deindustrialized communities, advance environmental justice, and strengthen our supply chains.
We need to ramp up the number of zero-emission vehicles on our roads — making them available and accessible for everyone.

This means setting national standards, investing in charging infrastructure, and incentivizing consumers to make their next car electric.
Climate change poses systemic risks to our financial system & economy.

Our federal regulators’ job is to ensure a stable financial system. They need to start measuring and managing climate risks to ensure financial firms and our whole financial system won’t be destabilized.
At the local level, we can both reduce emissions & make our communities more resilient.

By ensuring that housing, transportation & infrastructure work for all residents, we'll create jobs, reduce the cost of climate disasters & make our communities better places to live.
Climate change is threatening the livelihoods of our farmers & ranchers. But they've been finding ways to conserve water, store carbon & improve resiliency for years. The right incentives & assistance will help rural economies generate new income & keep being key to the solution.
Healthy wild and working landscapes are critical in the fight against climate change.

If we act now, we can support resilient forests, fields, wetlands, and coastal habitats that naturally store more carbon.
Climate change is a health disaster — but climate action is a major opportunity.

Reducing emissions will save hundreds of thousands of lives, avoid billions of dollars in health care costs, and reduce health disparities that harm low-income communities and communities of color.
Climate change poses direct threats to the safety & readiness of our troops.

The military must incorporate climate projections into its planning & reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. With clean & energy-efficient solutions, our military will remain the strongest in the world.
The world needs American leadership to tackle the climate crisis.

That means we need to recommit to global agreements to reduce emissions, use our international engagement to support climate solutions worldwide & incorporate climate change into foreign policy decision-making.
America has the chance to again be the powerhouse of global innovation as we work to solve the crisis.

To do this, the federal government needs to increase R&D funding & tax incentives to spur the technological improvements and innovation needed to combat the climate crisis.
Giant fossil fuel companies are funneling billions in dark money through front groups to lobby against climate action.

To speed climate action, we need to reform our campaign finance & lobbying laws to reduce the influence of money — especially dark money — in politics.
