We are reeling yet again from heartbreaking news from Kenosha.

This is Trump’s America.

We woke up this morning to the heartbreaking news of more tragedy in Kenosha. Online videos show a young man firing his gun at protesters, killing two and injuring one. We mourn the senseless death, send hope for recovery to the injured, and our prayers to grieving families.
This violence is the inevitable result of President Trump’s years of racist, disturbing rhetoric. Yesterday, an emboldened militia posted a call to “take up arms.” Last night, an out-of-state gunman, Kyle Rittenhouse did exactly that. Now, two lay dead. theverge.com/2020/8/26/2140…
Trump and his allies have fear-mongered and stoked hate against those standing in opposition to racism and injustice, conflating peaceful protesters with rioters—rather than bringing us together to address the reason for protest.

Trump egged on armed right-wing militias through calls to “liberate” states during stay-at-home orders.

What we saw last night was shocking. It was not, as @LGMandelaBarnes point out, surprising.
Trump’s Republican National Convention has speakers spreading barely-coded warnings about the destruction of the "suburbs."

And here in Wisconsin, Republicans like Robin Vos ignore the rise of far-right hate which is fueling chaos — while shamelessly refusing to act on legislation to address police violence.
We must unite in opposition to violence. We must work to eradicate racism. And we cannot let Trump and his allies further divide our nation and pit us against one another. We can’t remain silent as blood is shed.
Trump depends on a broken America to win re-election in November and continue his chaotic rule, and our nation simply can’t survive another four years of his hate and vitriol.

We send our deepest prayers to Jacob Blake, and wish him and his loved ones strength in his recovery. This is yet another horrifying reminder of the violence of white supremacy, which devalues, maims, and ends Black lives in our state.
The officer who shot Mr. Blake seven times at point blank range should be investigated, tried, and convicted.

With the Biden campaign and convention, the medium is the message. We’re virtual precisely because we know how much suffering this pandemic is causing. We’re going to get it under control. Meanwhile, as deaths rise, Trump thinks it’s a joke. And Trump’s campaign shows it.
Leaders understand that people are watching what they do. @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris are going the extra mile. Trump is waltzing around the country like there’s no pandemic—in effect telling people that if they ignore the virus, it’ll go away.
