Visited Tibet Sakya Middle School, the most interesting thing I learnt, other than Han students MUST also learn Tibetan here, is that these kids make hula hooping look way easier than it really is at 4300m.

Some awesome Tibetan music by one of the classes.
Another music class using guitar
Tibetan class, also mandatory for any Han Chinese kids who go here.
I put this poor student on the spot. Although I don't think science/maker space classes are taught in Tibetan, I was curious if she could express herself/this exhibit in Tibetan.
According to the principal, some Tibetan cultural classes are elective, however Tibetan language class is mandatory, no matter you're Tibetan or Han. At the end of this clip, kids are learning to type Tibetan characters on a computer keyboard.
Tablet computers, accommodations (most students homes are far and they live on campus) transportation (back and forth on weekends/holidays), food and school uniforms are all provided for free. Buddy cities often help poorer cities, Shanghai gave ¥50m to this school since 2017.
Library has a mix of Chinese and Tibetan books, has books on American history (one on Roosevelt), and reading guidelines are only written in Tibetan, they didn't have it in Chinese characters. Definitely got the feeling Tibetan is their 1st language today.
Trying Tibetan dance. You've gotta know when you weren't cut out for something and give up 😅.

Speaking to some of the younger kids, they've only been learning Tibetan dance for a few months so far, but enjoying it and have already proudly performed for their parents.
At 4300+ meters above sea level, this is way more difficult than it looks for someone from the lowlands, but look at those moves @Jingjing_Li brought to the floor!
