Among the many petty things (and many!🙄) that the (fairly pointless) separate Telangana movement did was to try and erase the beautiful song written by poet Shankarambaadi Sundaracharya. It was the state anthem. It is immortal! As long as Telugu lasts, this song will be sung!🙏

Listen to an excerpt sung by actress and singer Tanguturi Suryakumari. The poet lists some of the most beautiful and immortal elements about Teluguness!

Rao Saheb Sri Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy (1863-1940), the Telugu writer who championed the cause of Telugu language. It is his birthday today that is being celebrated as #తెలుగుభాషాదినోత్సవం, the world over! ☺️🙏

"గిడుగు తెలుగు పిడుగు!", as it was said of him!

Coming to art, some of my all time favourite modern Telugu artists are, Bapu Garu, VaPa garu and Bujjayi Garu. All three extraordinary!

You will rarely come across any of their works that are bad! Almost everything they have created continues to inspire awe! ☺️🙏

Some of my all time favourite Telugu writers, whose works I have pretty much read, everything available! Gurujada, Viswanatha and Devulapalli. ☺️🙏

Where does one still get eye glasses frames like that I say! 😎 I want!

Some of my favourite Telugus who were great Carnatic musicians! Among vocalists Pinakapani, Voleti, Nedunuri and Dr BMK! ☺️🙏

And among Carnatic instrumentalists. Dwaram, Eemani, Sheikh Chinna Mowlana and Mandolin Shrinivas. ☺️🙏

Among cinema playback singers, Ghantasala, P Susheela, S Janaki and SPB! ☺️🙏

Among Telugu cinema directors , Kamalakara Kameswara Rao, Chittoor V Nagaiah, K Viswanath and Bapu garu! Must have seen everything directed by them! ☺️🙏

Among Telugu actors, my most favourite! The legendary SV Ranga Rao garu! ☺️🙏

Among Telugu heroines of yesteryears. Savitri, Anjali Devi, Bhanumati and Jamuna. ☺️🙏

Among Telugus who gave their lives for the growth of classical dance! The great Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma garu, Vempati Chinna Satyam garu, Nataraja Ramakrishna garu and the Diva Yamini Krishnamurthy garu! ☺️🙏

Oh and the great ancient temples in the Telugu lands! My favourite are:

Among some of the greatest scholars of Sanskrit. The great Diwakarla Venkatavadhani and Pullella Sriramachandrudu. ☺️🙏

And the popular trinity of Telugu Pravachana Kartas of the modern times, who have been consistently been putting Telugus in the path of Dharma. Chaganti garu, Sarma garu and Garikapati garu ☺️🙏

And all the big list of saints, mystics, sages, seers, Rishis, Tapasvis and spiritual leaders who have been silently enriching the Telugu lands! ☺️🙏 Read this brilliant series of biographies! From Mantralayam Raghavendra swamy to Yogi Vemana to Veera Brahmam!
