The 2025 Osaka world's fair logo had 5 finalists. Option E was the winner.

Its official name is inochi no kagayaki ("brilliance of life"), but Japanese Twitter nicknamed it koroshite-kun ("please kill me now-kun")

Here is a thread of memes!

1/

#いのちの輝き
#コロシテくん
Many people emphasized the potentially horrific aspects of the logo:

2/
Other people saw a chance to exercise their creative sides!

This person knitted a kill-me-kun out of yarn:

3/

Someone else made a brooch out of beads:

4/

This person claims to have spent five hours making this kill-me-kun out of perler beads!

5/

Near Kyoto University, someone made a balloon sculpture:

6/

This person sculpted an ultra-realistic version out of clay:

7/

Here someone made a cutout that you can superimpose on any background to make your own version of kill-me-kun!

8/

Other people expressed themselves through drawing, jewelry, or their nails:

9/
Of course, there were LOTS of moe anthropomorphizations:

(See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_anthr…)

10/
Here are some more:

11/
And more!

The last one cleverly combines the new logo with artist Okamoto Tarō's "Tower of the Sun" from the 1970 Osaka Expo.

12/
Of course there were definitely male anthropomorphizations as well!

13/
Did there need to be manga? There definitely neeed to be manga!!!

Here, a man finds a little kill-me-kun and they become friends, but it accidentally kills him.

14/

Here, an anthropomorphized kill-me-kun has an encounter with an anthropomorphized Tower of the Sun

15/

In this one, kill-me-kun cries after hearing people call him "disgusting," "impossible," and "unacceptable"

16/

And my favorite:

”It has been gestating in its cocoon, the Tower of the Sun, for 50 long years. Now it is finally ready!"

[Massive, pulsing heartbeat sound]

"Behold humanity's future: Inochi no Kagayaki!!!"

"Kill...me...please...kill...me..."

17/
Here someone imagined what kind of mitarashi dango (sweet mochi balls on a stick, an Osaka-area favorite), might be served at the 2025 Osaka Expo

18/
Of course people also got creative with actual food items in real life, including bread, cookies, and salad:

19/
This person made a kill-me-kun pizza!

20/

Someone even drew kill-me-kun in their latte:

22/

Many people pointed out how the logo looks similar to the Amazon Rainforest fruit guarana.

23/
People also got creative making images on their computers. Here someone imitated the look of a classic arcade game:

24/

This person made an animated GIF in the style of an 8-bit console game:

25/

Someone else created a detailed 3D render:

26/

This person created a motion graphic in Blender:

27/

And this guy created an augmented reality version that allows kill-me-kun to be summoned at a moment's notice using a smartphone camera while on the go!
