I had just finished my MSc from LASU in the year 2000. I actually went for my MSc to better position me for job hunting. At the end, I wrote and sent out many applications in search for a job. My hope still on the possibility of getting a contract renewal from Mobil Producing.
That never did happen. One faithful day, a despatch messenger service came knocking at my gate to drop off a letter offering me employment. I was happy but had no recollection of ever applying to the company as I had sent in my application to several places. I reported as
requested at 8am. The facilitator of the company I was made to realise was at Abuja but had insisted I wait for him. I waited till 5pm! I did not have the luxury of anger or frustration. I waited. He called at about 5pm asking that I go and return the following day. No apologies.
Like clockwork, I reported back the next day. I waited at his reception and was ushered into his living room. Papers sprawled across everywhere while he took his breakfast. Interview started. I was desperate and in need of a job. We agreed to 27,500 monthly pay. Note this company
is on Sanusi Fafunwa street, VI. While I stayed at Igando area. I worked tirelessly, late, overtime and even weekends. As the Manager, I lead so many other staff members. For 3 months I slaved at my job. Wrote so many proposals I lost count and at times went to Abuja to defend
these writings. Suffice to say, for that 3 months, I never received a single KOBO!
