Do you remember when you joined Twitter? I do! (for the second time, actually) I apologize for nothing. #MyTwitterAnniversary
I'm trying to decide if this account is better than the first one I had (which had double the followers and seemingly more impact.) I'm leaning towards"yes" because of the greater diversity of followers despite less overall engagement
In the end that's why I decided to start from scratch and I think I'm happy overall. Even if you folks may not be

Folks, today is the 6th anniversary of the passing of screen legend Burt Reynolds. You know what that means, right?
Here's the now semi-infamous #BurtReynoldsStory:
As many of you know, in 2016 I worked on the first campaign for now Congressman Brian Mast in Florida. Brian was a carpetbagger but we had lived in Martin County for nearly 10 years by then (and my parents nearly 30 by now.)
Burt Reynolds was a Jupiter native but happened to live just a few hundred yards inside of the Martin County line and just about 5 minutes from our house. You would kind of see him around here and there but he was mostly pretty private.
🧵Friends, sit back while I tell you the story of Chris LaCivita & everyone's friend, Allen West. Our tale begins in 2004 after the nomination of John Kerry as the Democratic candidate for president vs George W Bush. Now, you may remember that it was a national security election
And John Kerry was expected to provide credibility against Bush by being the decorated Vietnam combat veteran who built a career as a war protester.
Enter LaCivita, who had been a low level field staffer in Virginia after a stint as a Marine serving in the Gulf War where he received a Purple Heart. He later worked with a DC firm called DCI Group (that still exists) where some folks LaCivita worked closely with went to jail.
I've said this to y'all before but because too many have anointed him as The Next Conservative Hope® you don't pay attention. But Ron DeSantis will go down as the most corrupt governor in modern Florida history. #FlaPol
Not because he has financially benefited himself personally, although I can't rule that out. But as far as shady and downright dirty operations by his official staff (who are state employees and paid by taxpayers) and how unethical his office is. Hate me all you want
And then you'll ask yourself why Ron DeSantis has hired so many amoral scumbags to be his official staff. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.
The thing to really keep an eye on is what Ron and Casey do after this debacle finally crashes to earth. They're broke. They have no assets (they used a condo rented from a pedophile as their previous address.) Ron has never had an actual career so where do they go?
If you think Casey Antoinette is gonna go back to live remotes for local TV you're nuts. Ron can't do TV because he's an asshole who hates to chat. His books are standard RW claptrap and won't be bestsellers when he isn't gov and can't force people to buy them in bulk
Lobbyists need relationships and literally everyone hates Ron, a disloyal, backstabbing prick who gladly turns his back on anyone.
He's not wrong here. I sorta did this inadvertently in 2016 while working for the guy whose name I'm tired of saying. We would often go around to outdoor sign waving rallies while driving between events.
One day we planned to stop at a place somewhere in Palm Beach County. It was a shopping center parking lot on a very busy corner and the Candidate was excited. That dude loves cheering crowds like I love cheeseburgers. Saying the Pledge is his highest calling in life.
Anyway, we get to the location and it's packed. PACKED. Literally hundreds of people, all dressed in MAGA gear. And they're clearly in a frenzy even before we roll up, but when the Candidate gets out and very theatrically salutes an American flag THEY LOSE THEIR MINDS.
Bear with me because I need to pay tribute to someone who meant a great deal to me. Some 12 years ago my wife and I got to know an older couple at our church. They always stuck out due to their bearing, the way they held hands, and the fact that the man usually drove a sportscar
One day they invite us to dinner at the Sewalls Point Club (Martin County peeps know it well.) It's an incredible place on the ocean with five star service, etc. Not the place I would ever go. But it was incredible.
After dinner we go back to their house, where Jay shows me his library. It's on that day that I learn a few interesting facts about Jay:
He was 90
His grandfather had been in the Civil War. That Grandfather was best friends with another Ohio kid named Garfield
