Trump going to Kenosha feels like it's going to be another unpleasant turning point.
Trump wants caravans of protesters from Chicago to come clash with hordes of his people in a swing state that leans conservative. He's a reality TV star. He is trying to orchestrate the show his fandom wants to watch.
It's a trap. I'm not saying not to engage with it. We can't pretend it's not happening. I am saying don't follow his script. Don't be a player in his story.
I'm not telling y'all what to do, but I think this is one of those times where we have to prioritize being better storytellers. I believe in a diversity of tactics. We need to think beyond our most obvious impulses here. We have to out-narrative these fools. And we can do that.
Chicago fam, this is a provocation aimed squarely at us and we have to be strategic right now. This event happening and there will be a response. What we have the potential to affect is the shape of that response. Think. Work the problem. How do we tell a story that matters here?
How do we throw cold water on his narrative or flip that shit the fuck over?
Y'all know I don't give any fucks about respectability or the rule of law or any of that shit, but I do care about strategic storytelling, and I am seeing their narrative coming together perfectly on this one if we play along.
