This thread will be for cultural appropriation and conflict with local religions from Christianity throughout the world. It should be a framework and a reminder to how Christianity absorbs a local religion and annihilates it.
For first entry , let's take a very recent example. The Igbo religion from Nigeria. Excerpts from Conflicts Between African Traditional
Religion and Christianity in Eastern
Nigeria: The Igbo Example
Chukwuma O. Okeke1
, Christopher N. Ibenwa1
,
and Gloria Tochukwu Okeke1
So what exactly is Igbo religion, let's see how it is explained here.
And how exactly did Christianity start its conflict with the religion? It's very familiar actually. Start moulding young minds in christian schools , eradicate local traditions, customs, music and art and make locals hate their local traditions.
Result? There are just .9% traditional religion population in Nigeria in 2019. Rest are Christians and Muslims.
Let's take another recent example, South Korea. In 1945, Christians were 2% of population in Korea. Today in South Korea, 30% population is Christian. How did that happen?
How else, Christianity appropriated Confuciusim. From Revisiting the Confucian Norms in Korean Church Growth
by Dr. Song-Chong Lee. Here are some excerpts from the research.
