She noted that most of the individuals mentioned in the petition, have pending criminal cases. One of them has a bench warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court, while the state has rejected the request from one of them for an out of court settlement.
In July 2015, The Union newspaper published a defamatory story on the assets of Malam Nasir @elrufai, who sued the newspaper and its correspondent for libel. He initiated this matter in his private capacity and it is being handled by his personal lawyer.
